Overview

A thatched, butterscotch-coloured Cotswold stone escape, Nutwood Cottage is located in a pretty Oxfordshire village just a stone’s throw from Bicester. With warm and inviting farmhouse-style interiors including natural hues and lots of raw materials, plus plenty of stylish furnishings, this escape has everything you need for a peaceful, rural getaway. Sleeping up to four people in two bedrooms, Nutwood Cottage is a great choice for families, couples who like their space, or a small group of friends.

Kitchen, Living & Dining Areas

The open-plan living space is cosy and characterful with a subtle nod to Danish design. The sitting area centres around a log burner within the old original fire place, framed by an overhead wooden beam. There’s a sofa, arm chair and window seat, accompanied by cosy throws and sheepskins for hunkering down in front of a film or a crackling fire.

The dining area features an exposed brick wall, a wooden table with a bench and two chairs, and hanging pendent lights. The clever use of mirrors in this escape makes the cottage feel spacious and helps brings the natural light indoors. From here, you access the separate modern country-style kitchen, where you’ll find everything you need for rustling up feasts. We love the large oatmeal-hued SMEG fridge and the classic farmhouse-style sink.

Nutwood’s original features along with the warm and neutral colour palate, ensure this escape feels like home to all of its guests.

The Bedrooms

Upstairs you’ll find two beautiful bedrooms that are so cosy, they almost have a subtle alpine feel to them. There’s one double room and one twin room, and they benefit from wooden panelled walls, charming sloped ceilings, old wooden beams and chic brass light fittings. The panelling continues into the family bathroom, where you’ll find a bath tub with an overhead rainfall shower.

Outside

There’s a pretty landscaped garden with terracotta-potted plants and a gravel path to your escape’s front door. There is a small outdoor dining set up for two, which makes for the perfect sun trap for morning coffees, plus there are plenty of bosky country walks from the doorstep.

Dogs

Dogs are not allowed at Nutwood Cottage.

A locally sourced welcome hamper will be waiting for you on arrival including a fresh loaf of bread, milk, eggs, butter and a bottle of sparkling wine.
