Overview
Set on the edge of the village of Bunbury in the rolling Cheshire countryside, The Garden House is a beautifully restored 1840s estate building beside a glorious walled garden, originally designed by Edward Kemp, one of the leading landscape designers of the Victorian era. Once home to the horses and staff of the original country house, it now sleeps up to 10 guests across five bedrooms, with generous entertaining spaces made for gathering.
Kitchen, Living & Dining Areas
The house centres around an open-plan dining space, where a fully equipped kitchen and large central island create a natural hub for cooking. Two separate sitting rooms offer space to unwind, one with a log burner, while a separate utility and boot room brings thoughtful practicality after days spent exploring the countryside.
Reclaimed timber from the former stables has been crafted into bespoke furniture, celebrating the character and heritage of the building. Natural materials and warm, understated interiors honour its rural roots, creating a welcoming home-from-home atmosphere.
The Bedrooms & Bathrooms
Sleeping up to 10 guests across five beautifully appointed bedrooms, The Garden House offers a flexible layout for families and groups of friends. There are two king bedrooms, a super king bedroom, a twin room, and a fifth zip-and-link bedroom that can be arranged as either a super-king or twin beds to suit your stay. The versatile zip-and-link bedroom is located on the ground floor, while the king and twin bedrooms are on the first floor. Occupying its own floor at the top of the house, the super-king bedroom provides a peaceful retreat with its own en-suite bathroom.
Characterful exposed timber beams run throughout, celebrating the building’s heritage, while each bedroom has been thoughtfully designed with comfort in mind. On the first floor you’ll also find a generous family bathroom stocked with luxurious 100 Acres products.
Outside
Step outside into the beautifully restored estate grounds, including a historic walled garden designed by Edward Kemp in 1860. Discover the kitchen garden, greenhouse and Japanese-style hot tub, enjoy outdoor dining and relaxed seating areas by the BBQ, or gather around the fire pit as the day draws to a close.
Welcome Hamper
A locally sourced welcome hamper will be waiting for you on arrival including a fresh loaf of bread, eggs, milk, butter, crisps and biscuits.
Dogs
The Garden House allows up to two dogs for an additional £50 fee per dog. Please note, dogs are not allowed in any bedrooms, upstairs or on any of the furniture.
