Overview
Set within a secluded pocket of the Heythrop Estate in the Cotswolds, The Yellow House is a design-led retreat that reimagines countryside living. Far from the expected honey-stone cottage, this is an escape shaped by space, light and stylish, retro-inspired interiors. Throw in the excellent outdoor space, including a rooftop sundeck, a wood-fired hot tub, and a sauna hidden in the trees, and you’ve got something pretty special.
Kitchen, Living & Dining Areas
The generous, fully equipped kitchen and dining room sits at the centre of the house, flooded with natural light from the floor-to-ceiling windows. Offering a double range cooker, a circular dining table seating eight, and doors that open directly onto the patio, this is a space designed with entertaining and sociable mealtimes in mind. There’s also a cosy living room with a centre-piece fire place, along with a dedicated office space, utility room, and a downstairs loo.
A soothing butter-yellow hue winds its way throughout the interiors, naturally inspiring the name.
The Bedrooms & Bathrooms
There are four beautiful bedrooms upstairs, each with their own distinct design, and all super comfortable. The master suite offers a super-King bed, its own private balcony, and an en-suite bathroom with walk-in wardrobes and a double shower. You’ll find three more double bedrooms on this floor, one of which can be made into twins on request. There’s also family bathroom with a bath tub and a walk-in shower, with pretty views across the grounds.
For those travelling with younger ones in tow, it’s worth noting that the staircases have open treads.
Outside
Soak up the idyllic private grounds cocooning The Yellow House from one of the many spots for sitting, relaxing, cooking, and exploring – where it’s not uncommon to be joined by roaming deer.
There’s a seriously impressive outdoor kitchen for sizzling up fresh pizzas and balmy BBQs, with an outdoor dining set up sitting underneath a veranda at the front of the house and overlooking the large lawned garden. Follow the path from here to the sunken fire pit, or discover the wood-fired hot tub and sauna tucked between the trees. And we love the roof-top sundeck, for taking a time out away from it all and sinking into the sunny-yellow sun loungers.
