Overview
Thatch Cottage is a charming Grade II listed 17th-century thatched two-bedroom cottage, full of original character and period details alongside thoughtful modern touches. A cosy Somerset retreat in its own right, it offers a peaceful countryside escape for four with plenty of charm.
Larger group? The cottage can be booked together with The Thatched House, connected via a lockable ground-floor door to create one larger home sleeping up to 14 guests — ideal for gatherings with family and friends.
Kitchen, Living & Dining Areas
The well-equipped kitchen flows into a generous sitting room, designed for relaxed evenings together with a dining area, large television and cosy log burner. A separate utility room adds a practical touch for longer stays.
The Bedrooms
Upstairs, the main bedroom offers a super-king bed and en-suite bathroom with a roll-top bath and walk-in shower. A second bedroom can be set up as either a super-king or twin room, with a stylish en-suite shower room and underfloor heating.
Outside
Step outside into the private lawned garden, with space to gather around the dining table, fire up the charcoal BBQ and enjoy long summer evenings in the Somerset countryside. On the estate, you’ll also find shared padel courts available for guests to book (please ask our sales team for further details).
Dogs
Thatch Cottage is happy to accept two dogs for a fee of £50 per dog. Kindly note that dogs are not allowed upstairs or on any of the furniture.

Set within the the tiny hamlet of Atherstone, part of the 3,000-acre Dillington Estate, Hay Loft is surrounded by rolling Somerset countryside, with beautiful walks, runs and cycling routes from the doorstep, along with village pubs within walking distance and National Trust houses, traditional cider farms and pottery studios nearby.
Food lovers are particularly well served, with standout destinations including Holm and the Lord Poulett Arms. Further afield, spend a day exploring the beautiful Dorset coastline, with Lyme Regis only 45 minutes away, or head towards Bruton for The Newt, Hauser & Wirth, and its thriving food and arts scene.
