Tucked away in the Cotswold village of Langford, The Old Chapel is a secluded pocket of romance with all the ingredients for a rural retreat to remember. Recently renovated to impressive standards, with a stylish bohemian flair, this soulful escape has plenty of panache, hidden behind beautifully carved Indian doors. With a floating mezzanine bedroom atop a swirling spiral staircase, a cracking country pub a short walk away and a backdrop of bucolic British countryside, this one-bedroom bolthole will tug at your heartstrings and whisk you away from the trappings of modern life.
Kitchen, Living & Dining Areas
As a converted chapel, you can expect high ceilings and fairy-tale lancet windows, flooding the space with natural light and greeting you with an air of regal romance. The design is fully open-plan with a centre-stage living space with an electric log burner (plus there’s underfloor heating for those who want to get really cosy). The compact but chic kitchen has everything you need to rustle up indulgent breakfasts in bed, or candlelit dinners for two (although you’ll want to enjoy a meal or two at the nearby pubs.
The Bedroom
Up the spiral staircase you’ll find the impressive mezzanine bedroom with a super-king bed and an ensuite shower room. In keeping with the rest of the interiors at The Old Chapel, this room sings understated luxury with a stylish, bohemian flair.
Outside
There’s a small courtyard with a table and chairs at this escape, ensuring there’s a place for morning coffee or a glass or two of wine.
Dogs
Furry friends should sit this stay out. The Old Chapel does not accept dogs.

A welcome hamper filled with local goodies will be waiting for you on arrival including milk, butter, jam, eggs, a fresh loaf and a bottle of crémant.

About Langford, The Cotswolds
A few miles south of Burford, Langford has all the hallmarks of a quintessential countryside getaway. This unspoilt Cotswold village of honey-coloured houses has a wonderful village pub. With more iconic Cotswold destinations on your doorstep, from the cobbled streets of Bibury to the Cotswold Wildlife Park, Langford is a gem.
How To Get There
The Cotswolds is best explored by car but if you are travelling by train the closest, most convenient station is at Swindon, half an hour’s taxi ride away (but please note that taxis are not readily available and should be booked well in advance).
Parking
There is no private parking but free road-side parking can be found just 50 metres or so from the front door.

Local Shops, Pubs & Restaurants
- Guests of The Old Chapel have struck gold with the local village pub, The Bell Inn at Langford. Helmed by Cotswolds duo, Peter Creed and Tom Noest, this pub is all about straightforward, good quality food.
- In the pretty village of Coln St Aldwyns, you’ll find The New Inn from local foodie duo, Baz & Fred.
- The Double Red Duke sitting just outside Bampton is another absolute must – we recommend reserving a table at the open-kitchen bar.
- The Ox Barn at the country house hotel, Thyme, is a great spot for special occasions.
- The Sherborne Arms at Northleach (sister to The Bell Inn) also never disappoints.
Things To Do
- Venture to the nearby chocolate-box town of Bibury, home to one of the most photographed streets in the whole of the Cotswolds, Arlington Row.
- William Morris’ Kelmscott Manor is under a ten minute drive away.
- Explore what’s on at Burford Garden Centre.
- The Cotswolds Distillery is just around the corner, or The Cotswolds Farm Park always makes for a fun day out with little ones.
- The iconic Daylesford Farm is roughly half an hour away.
