school house

Sleeps 4
2 Bedrooms
From £180 per night

A sweet-as-can-be two bedroom cottage tucked away in the sleepy South Cotswolds village of Grittleton, School House (formerly the village school’s headmaster’s headquarters) offers a delightful chocolate-box setting for a rural retreat with plenty of country walks and pubs within reach. Perfect for a family of four, small group of friends, or two couples.

Kitchen, Living & Dining Areas

Behind the wisteria shrouded Cotswolds stone front and the candy-blue front door, you’ll find contemporary interiors with a whimsical whisper. An entrance hall with peppermint striped walls greets you and leads you into the open-plan kitchen and dining space, where an AGA, marble topped counters and kitchen island await.

Expect fresh backdrops of earthy and easy-on-the-eye neutrals, botanical prints and wooden floors. Everything is brand new for 2024, and all the rooms are finished to a very high standard. On this floor you’ll also find a separate sitting room with an open fire, a utility room, and one of the two bathrooms (this one has a sunken maple-hued tub).

There is also a small hideaway garden cabin that can be used as a secluded work space or chill out area, with a desk, TV and daybed.

The Bedrooms

The viridescent woodland surroundings definitely seep their way in through the honey-hued walls at School House. Upstairs, the interiors continue to celebrate the English countryside with shades of sage and teal, dancing floral patterns and furniture crafted from natural materials. There are two double bedrooms and a second bathroom with a rainfall shower.

The Garden

School House benefits from a well-kept walled garden that (come spring) is bursting with wild flowers, apple trees and wisteria, all of which can be enjoyed from the outdoor dining set up for four. A BBQ will also be available for use in the summer months.

Dogs

Dogs are welcome at School House for an additional £40 per dog.
